Hailsham Choral Society is a lively choir with some 60 members singing a repertoire from Bach to the Beatles and beyond.
They perform at least four main concerts during the year, with programmes featuring anything from Bach to Rogers and Hart.
They’re a sociable lot too and enjoy music workshops, coffee mornings, quizzes and even the odd pint of beer or glass of wine (or two)!

Andrew Lumb, Hailsham Choral reviewer, wrote: "Lucky were those who were part of the capacity audience for Hailsham Choral Society’s 60th anniversary performance of Handel’s Messiah on Saturday March 26th at All Saints Church. This was their return to large scale concert giving after two years of lockdowns, and it proved to be an emotionally affecting as well as musically uplifting experience for the choir and the large audience.
The choir celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2021 and hopes to mark it in style with a sell-out performance of Handel’s Messiah on Saturday 26th March at All Saints Church in Eastbourne. The Choral Society has a proud tradition of regular performances in Hailsham and the local area. After such a difficult time during the past two years financial help was needed to ensure the success of the anniversary concert.
I was lucky enough to get tickets to this delightful event last week, beautifully performed by the wonderful Hailsham Choral Society.
Conducted by Barbara Edwards and accompanied by William Hancox, the concert included a mix of timeless classics and contemporary carols. A special mention to Jozik Kotz for his wonderful performance of the Sussex Carol.
